As we have approached 2010 I have chosen my top 10 goals of the last decade. Enjoy

10. Fabio Quagliarella Sampdoria-Chievo 2006-07

40 yard half-volley over the head of the Chievo goalkeeper


9. Grafite Wolfsburg-Bayern Munich 08-09

Making a mockery of the Bayern defence, rounding the keeper and back-heeling the ball into the net.


8. Manicni Lyon-Roma 06-07

Through pass by Perrotta and Mancini running at Anthony Reveillere and turning him inside out with 4 stepovers and left bolt by Coupet


7. Thierry Henry Arsenal-Liverpool 2003-04

During the invincible season Henry just ran through the static Liverpool back line and cooly slots it past Dudek


6 Alan Shearer Newcastle-Everton 2002-03

Probably his best goal ever. Wonderful first time volley against Everton screamed into top corner


5.  Wayne Rooney Manchester United-Newcastle 04-05

After a bit of an argument with the referee, Rooney smashed the ball past Shay Given on the first time volley


4. Cristiano Ronaldo Porto-Manchester United 08-09

Picked up a pass by Anderson and from 35 yards out and it just flew past Helton


3. Dennis Bergkamp Newcastle-Arsenal 01-02

Pass by Pires, Bergkamp just turns Dabizas and makes him look like a fool and just slides it past Given


2. Simon Cox Swindon-Walsall 08-09

Lobbed pass by Lilian Nalis over the shoulder of Cox, 1st touch and then Lobbed it over the Walsall keeper. Ball never touched the floor.


1. Esteban Cambiasso Argentina-Serbia & Montenegro World Cup 2006.

25 passes for this goal wonderful team goal.


So that was my top ten goals of the decade. There was a few that missed out like Di Canio goal against Wimbledon, Maxi’s goal for Argentina against Mexico.

    I cannot understand why that Grafite goal is so underrated? Its got to be in the top 5 at least. He goes round the whole Bayern defence and backheel’s the ball into the net. In my opinion its better than Henry’s v Liverpool

    Messi v Getafe. Best individual goal of the decade and the only goal possibly better than Cambiasso’s.
