Racing Santander starlet Sergio Canales wants his future at the La Liga club to be resolved in the near future as he continues to be linked with a move away from the Spanish club. Fellow Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City have all been linked with a move for the 18 year old who is increasing his standing within world football every week. Four goals in his last three matches have put Canales on the radar of a number of top European clubs and uncertainty surrounds the youngster’s future at Santander.
Sergio Canales’ contract expires at the end of the season and Canales has admitted that the speculation surrounding him is not helpful. Canales told Marca that:
“I’m calm but it’s clear that we need to resolve this as soon as possible so I can concentrate.”
“It’s not that I’m unsettled, but uncertainty isn’t good.”
Canales did confess that he was flattered by the interest in him even though it isn’t as great as has been reported, and further stated that:
“Fifty teams have not called me. Many things are being said, but I’m trying to keep myself at the periphery of all this.”
“Of course, whenever clubs like those are following you it’s nice. It makes me happy.”
Racing Santander president Francisco Pernia has recently dismissed rumours linking the Spanish midfielder with a move away from El Sardinero in the near future, and Racing will undoubtedly be keen to hang on Canales who scored a match-winning brace against Sevilla at the weekend.
