Co-owner David Sullivan has revealed his disappointment after Tottenham launched a late bid to sign West Ham United transfer target Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The Hammers had agreed a fee with Monaco for the former Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea and Barcelona forward and Gudjohnsen had undergone a medical at the east London club.

However, he could now sign for Spurs after late interest from Harry Redknapp's side.

The two clubs were involved a similar transfer spat 12 months ago when Spurs attempted to sign striker Craig Bellamy from the Hammers before they eventually sold him to Manchester City.

"We thought we had a deal and the player had even had a medical," explained Sullivan.

"We then heard that Tottenham were trying to speak to the player.

"I can't say I am happy about it but I believe in Karma and what goes around, comes around."

West Ham have also been linked with a move for unsettled Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy.
