Everton full-back Tony Hibbert has been ruled out for around a month after being forced to undergo surgery to correct a hernia problem.
The 28-year-old has not featured for the Toffees since the 3-1 FA Cup third round win over Carlisle United and will undergo an operation this weekend.
Manager David Moyes told the club's official website:"Tony Hibbert has to have a hernia operation, which is a blow to us.
"We are getting a little bit better in terms of injuries, but you can take two steps forward and one step back at times.
"Tony will have an operation on Saturday. That will probably rule him out for around four weeks.
"But hopefully everybody else who was available last week will be available again for the Manchester City game."
