Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has admitted that injuries are starting to take their toll among his Villa Park squad.

Midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker is still being troubled by an ankle injury, while the full extent of Stephen Warnock's shin problem has yet to be diagnosed, with John Carew (knee) and Stiliyan Petrov (Achilles) both struggling as well.

O'Neill told the club's official website:"We've got a few injury problems. Nigel's injury is worse than we thought initially.

"He has gone for some scans which showed a bit of damage. He had an injury way back about five years ago when he played for West Ham – almost like a stress fracture. It is around about the same area.

"He doesn't feel it is as bad as that was, when he was out for about seven or eight weeks – that'd be really tough if that was the case.

"We'll have news about him in the next two or three days.

"Stephen is going for some scans. He has got an injury on his shin which is causing a lot of pain. If it is causing him a lot of pain, then it must be particularly sore."
