Brian Laws is confident that he can keep Burnley in the Premier League despite having no experience of managing in the top-flight.
The former Sheffield Wednesday, Scunthorpe United and Grimsby Town boss was unveiled in the Turf Moor hot-seat on Wednesday as Owen Coyle's successor.
The Clarets are currently lying down in 18th place in the table and Laws' appointment has been questioned in some quarters.
However, the former Burnley defender is confident that he is the right man to keep the club in the Premier League despite his lack of top-flight experience.
"The only area I have to get experience as a manager is in the top flight. However, you have to start somewhere," he told the club's official website.
"It is all about having experiences in football, running football clubs and running them well and I will do my utmost to ensure I do that at Turf Moor.
"I have only had two jobs in the last 13 years and I have been consistent through that period.
"This is the first time I have been out of work in 30 years, so that tells you I must have something."
Laws has appointed long-time number two Russ Wilcox as assistant manager and has pledged to play attractive football.
"Hopefully the Burnley supporters will remember the way my teams have played against them in the past," he added.
"We want to try and play the good attractive football that I was brought up on and I can't think of any reason to change that, because I am not in that mould.
"I like my teams to get the ball down and play the best they possibly can, because that's what the supporters thrive on.
"The team have shown they are capable of that this season – and let's remember the wheel is not broken. We just need to continue in the vein that Owen has left behind."
