Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish is refusing to rule out the possibility of bringing a big-name 'marquee' player to St Andrew's this month.
McLeish was promised major transfer funds in January following the takeover of the club by Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung earlier in the season.
Since then the Blues have embarked on an impressive run of form which has seen them rise up to eighth place in the Premier League table.
But despite admitting being happy with the squad he currently has at his disposal, McLeish will not rule out spending big this month.
"I still don't think we have to spend £20million, £40million or whatever was quoted at the time," he told the Birmingham Mail.
"But I have got to bring other players in and I will try and maintain the quality that we have seen since the start of the season.
"I don't think there's any point in bringing players who aren't as good as what we have, or I think who aren't potentially as good as what we have.
"You don't progress doing that. We will do a lot of continued diligence and try and enhance the character of the dressing room.
"We won't rule out a marquee signing, if there is someone out there who I think can make a huge difference to this team, I can't rule it out. We'd try if we could but, again, there has got to be a cut-off point."

Just hoping that the signings connect in well with the team spirit that he’s worked so hard to cultivate
