For Tottenham fans that cannot quite place the name ‘Harry Kane’, it is the name belonging to that chap from the Spurs academy that never seems to stop scoring. The Walthamstow-born striker does not turn 17 until July, but that has not stopped him becoming a regular fixture in the Tottenham under-18s Barclays FA Academy League Group B, in which Kane has notched up an impressive 14 goals in 17 performances to date. Last week, Kane’s performances for Tottenham earned him international recognition, as the youngster made his debut for England under-17s in the prestigious Algarve Tournament in Portugal.

Harry broke into the Premier Academy League as an Under-16 player last season, and scored on his first start for the club against West Ham in a 4-1 win in May. Despite being relatively new to the team, Harry has taken on the mantle as captain for the academy side this term, and his goal scoring exploits have seen the Tottenham academy side score more goals than anyone else in their division. Spurs are currently placed in second place behind the highly-rated Leicester City academy, and at just 16, Kane has become a major force for the academy this term.

The England youngster is not only recognized for his ability to score prolifically, but Kane is also capable of scoring spectacular goals, especially from dead-ball situations, where against Watford recently, Kane managed to score two free-kicks in one match in a 3-2 victory for Alex Inglethorpe’s men. Kane’s reputation at the club is such that in earlier on in the season he found himself, at just 16 and 3 months old, on the bench in a Carling Cup tie with Everton.

Kane is a product of the Tottenham youth set-up, and is evidence of the good job currently being conducted by academy manager John McDermott. Although players such as Dean Parrett and John Bostock have received more media attention to date, despite being older than Kane, they both may cost Tottenham upwards of £1m depending on how their careers progress, so it is refreshing to see a product of the Tottenham academy progressing so quickly, at such a young age. Tottenham have produced few first team Premier League players in recent history, but the current buzz surrounding certain players at the club is hopefully a sign that one day soon one of these boys will become a regular in Tottenham’s first team squad.

Kane played for 63 minutes in England’s 1-1 draw with France, and appeared in the 70th minute as a substitute against Ukraine in an impressive 3-0 win.

I have bean following this lads progress with interest and thanks for updating me there is another lad Fredericks who joined Harry on the bench recently .Ww have some good youngsters with Townsend and Mason plus Caulker not sure yet about Obika we will have to keep tabs on his new move .Lets hope Harry does a better job than he has with Bostock i thought sending him to Brentford was a backwards step he started well and the fans forgot he his only 18 and they don’t allow you a sluggish game in a better side there is less pressure. Bostock came from Palace to spurs had a taste of the big time done well and then got sent back to the under 18 no good for any youngster This looks bad on is father for thinking is son is in good hands. And Harry saying he has a bad attitude wont help him progress and had is father ringing talk sport in is sons defense a bad signal to send out and should have Levey livid with Harrys comments . backwards look at Wiltshire in the prem all our kids are going to learn nothing in a struggling team except the boos of the fans if they get beat and probable the blame.
