For instance the season before Kuyt joined we were 8 points off the title and the in the 2007/2008 season 11 points, we were also 11 points ahead of Everton below us in 5th too but if memory serves me they challenged us for fourth spot and results that went our way here or there towards the end of the season saw us stretch our lead further and we end up comfortably ahead of them despite what was a closely run thing throughout the campaign. Liverpool's problem up until last season is to maintain our form that throughout a campaign, I'm not arguing we're overly successful just that we challenged and i think we have in the past few years, more so than the years before...its easy to use stats to suit an argument and hindsight is a wonderful thing but putting aside club rivalries and alliegences though to argue we haven't challenged seems a tad unfair...I wouldn't say my memory is clouded at all, its just not selective is all.

"Since Kuyt joined we've been title challengers?" What league are you watching? In his first season liverpool finished 3rd more than 20 points behind man u, in his second season liverpool finished 4th, and this season you lie in 5th. The title challenge of last season seems to have clouded your memory.

Well that's another debate entirely, whether Ronaldo can be labelled a winger at all in todays game is questionable, although admittedly I meant to put right winger when in reference to Kuyt.
To say Liverpool have not been title challengers since Kuyt moved to us 3 summers ago is wrong...he can't be held accountable for what came before him such as the haphazard Souness,Evans and to an extent the latter days of the Houillier eras, so the 18 year argument goes out of the window. Whilst we've been poor this season, since Kuyt joined we have been title challengers and his contribution cannot be underestimated.

"Perennial title challengers" do me a favour! 2 title bids in 18 years does not make liverpool perennial title challengers. As for kuyt being "oficially" the most productive winger last season, sorry but that's simply not true. Ronaldo scored 18 goals and got 6 assists in the league.
