’s last major trophy was one that the Toffees will remember with glee. They beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final of 1995, thanks to a 1-0 victory, and took the famous old trophy on a memorable afternoon for them at Wembley.

It has been 15 years since that occasion so just what has happened to the players who were wearing blue that day?

Neville Southall- the Welshman tried his luck with managing non-league teams after retiring from the game, but with little success. He now teaches academy football during the week at a school in Canterbury, Kent.

Matt Jackson- after ending his career in 2008, he now works as a radio pundit for BBC Radio 5 Live. He also works for sports agents IMG, and is giving something back to the game by running a lifestyle management company to help players settle in at new clubs. In addition to that he is involved in a charity bringing together mistreated horses and disabled children.

Dave Watson- after coaching for Liverpool Schoolboys, and doing scouting work for Birmingham City, he is now Wigan’s youth team coach.

David Unsworth- retired after a lengthy career in 2009. Since then he joined Preston as a development coach, where he has now been promoted to first-team coach.

Gary Ablett- was at one stage Liverpool’s reserve team manager. Now he is the manager of Stockport County.

Anders Limpar- initially opened a bar in Stockholm, after retiring in 2001. He is now back in football as manager of Swedish second division side Sollentuna United, and also runs a betting shop.

Joe Parkinson- kept a connection with the club as fan liaison officer in 2000, but is now a forklift truck driver. He is a season ticket holder at Goodison Park.

Barry Horne- not doing something that you would associate with an ex-pro- he is a science teacher at a school in Chester, although he is also director of football at the same place. Occasionally appears as a TV pundit on Sky, and has a newspaper column.

Andy Hinchcliffe- after a career that started in the 80’s with Manchester City, he now finds himself back in the city. He works for Manchester radio station Key 103 as their City pundit, and on Magic 1152. He also has a column on City’s official website.

Graham Stuart- having retired from football in 2005, Stuart is now established in his media role. Has appeared as a pundit for Sky Sports, but mainly works as a radio pundit for the BBC as a match summariser.

Paul Rideout- the player who scored the winning goal at Wembley is now working in America as a youth coach for Kansas City Wizards, managing all three of the club’s youth squads.

Subs

Duncan Ferguson- had to put up with so many injuries before ending his career in 2006. The Scotsman now lives in Majorca.

Daniel Amokachi- the former striker, who comes from Nigeria, is now the national team’s assistant coach.

Joe Parkinson is a fork-lift truck driver. What a legend. Not something that I guess you’d expect an ex-pro to be doing in today’s game… can’t see David Beckham doing that when he retires.
