‘Where are they now?’ – Spurs’ Uefa Cup winners of ‘84
Tottenham Hotspur’s last piece of European glory came in the 1984 Uefa Cup final against an Anderlecht side containing Frank Arnesen who later went on to act as Director of Football at White Hart Lane.. After two legs the sides couldn’t be separated – with the aggregate score finishing 2-2. The first match was played in Brussels and Morten Olsen, the current Denmark manager, scored a late equaliser after Paul Miller had put the away side in front. And in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane it was a similar story with Graham Roberts saving the day for Spurs with just six minutes remaining, cancelling out Alexandre Czerniatynski’s hour-mark strike. So it came down to penalties. And, in a very un-English manner, Spurs triumphed 4-3, leaving the North London side’s supporters ecstatic and celebrating their second Uefa Cup victory in 12 years.
But whatever happened to that great Spurs squad?
