Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle was pleased with his side's display in Wednesday's goalless draw at Wigan Athletic.

The stalemate leaves the Trotters in the drop-zone although they are now only one point behind Hull City.

Matt Taylor had three late chances to win the game for Wanderers only to miss them all but Coyle was happy with his team's overall performance.

The former Burnley manager said after the draw:"I was pleased by how we played.

"We showed the desire and hunger and created some decent chances. Matty Taylor got into some really good positions and on another day would have scored. If you keep banging on the door it will eventually open.

"Wigan are a good side and we played well on what was a very difficult pitch. We came here and really took the game to them.

"I felt we did everything apart from score. We looked a threat and we've a great platform for our next game."
