Burnley defender Clarke Carlisle will put his mind to the test next week as he faces a showdown on TV quiz Countdown.
The former Blackpool, Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United man has a reputation as one of the most intelligent players in the professional game and will have the chance to put his mental agility on trial.
Despite being labelled as one of the most intelligent in his trade, he believes it is an unfair stereotype to suggest, historically, footballers are not the brightest.
He said:"They are sweeping generalisations. People say there is no intelligence in football but that couldn't be further from the truth.
"It is just like any working environment, you have a spectrum of intellect and ability. I don't think I am an exception to any of them.
"I've been a fan (of the show) since I was about seven. I've always been interested in Mensa and IQ tests. I love numbers and Scrabble is a big favourite of mine. I've just always been interested in that type of thing.''
Meanwhile, boss Brian Laws has played down rumours of a bust-up with midfielder Joey Gudjonsson following his recent omission from the first team and has suggested he isn't in his plans at the moment.
Laws said:"Unfortunately I can only satisfy the first eleven, semi-satisfy the subs and never satisfy the others. I know Joey is a strong-minded lad.
"He wants to play football and believes he should be in the team but at the moment I don't believe that."
