Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle felt that his side missed a chance to book a place in the last eight of the FA Cup by drawing 1-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Trotters dominated the first 45 minutes and led thanks to a superb Kevin Davies strike, before the visitors hit back to equalise through Jermain Defoe.
Spurs then passed up a chance to win the game when Tom Huddlestone’s penalty was saved by Jussi Jaaskelainen, but Coyle believes that his side enjoyed the upper hand for a majority of the game.
He commented:“It was a fantastic cup tie with numerous opportunities.
“Harry (Redknapp) said to me at full-time he thought it was a game of two halves, but I think it was a game of an hour for us with the last half-hour going to Tottenham.
“There is a lot to be pleased about. For large periods of the game we were in the ascendancy.
“If we had come in at half-time with a bigger lead no-one would have thought it was unjust.
“The players will tell you I had a blast at them at full-time because I believe we should have done enough earlier on to have won the game.
“While accepting at 1-1, with Jussi Jaaskelainen making the penalty save, we still carried a threat going forward.
“Probably none of us wanted a replay, but we are in the draw for the next round and who’s to say we can’t go there and win the replay.
“I would hope any team I am ever in charge of you would see they would want to win every game they play in and they showed that today.”
