Fulham have confirmed that striker Andrew Johnson will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

The 28-year-old England international has played just 13 times this season, having suffered a groin strain and a collarbone injury before being hit by a knee problem.

Johnson was forced to head to the USA to visit leading knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman in a bid to get to the bottom of his injury problems and a subsequent operation has revealed major damage.

A short statement on the club's official website read:"The club can confirm that following knee surgery in Colorado by eminent specialist Dr Richard Steadman, Andrew Johnson will not be available for the remainder of the current season.

"Following the prognosis received from the surgeon, the club fully expects Andrew to take part in the latter part of pre-season training in readiness for the new season."

Johnson joined the Cottagers for £10.5million from Everton in the summer of 2008, but a series of injury setbacks have limited him to 13 goals in 49 appearances for his current employers.
