Burnley are set to be boosted by the return to full training of veteran utility man Graham Alexander, who has been sidelined for several weeks by a calf problem.

The 38-year-old Scotland international has not featured since the 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers in late January, but is expected to join up with the rest of the Clarets squad this week.

Manager Brian Laws told the Lancashire Telegraph:"Graham will be on the training pitch this week.

"He has been progressing well and we are really pleased with that.

"It is now a matter of him stepping up his work and seeing how it goes for him. He doesn't have many injuries so it is hard to judge, but he is ready to step up."

Alexander has been a key figure in Burnley's return to the English top-flight, scoring 18 goals in 130 appearances since his arrival from Preston North End in the summer of 2007.
