Manager Alex McLeish saluted his players after Birmingham City beat Wigan Athletic 1-0 at St Andrew's to reach the 40-point mark in the Premier League.
A James McFadden penalty gave the Blues another three points, with McLeish ecstatic with the way things have gone so far this season.
He said:"If you had said at the start of the season that we would get 40 points by March, I would have said you are having a laugh because the squad needed time to gel and develop and we had lads coming in from the Championship.
"To get to 40 points before March is an outstanding feat from a squad that cost £10million in the summer to assemble.
"That is amazing and it is even more amazing that we are in eighth position, but we now want to kick on and the characters in the dressing room will ensure we don't ease up."

McLeish’s comments are very negative about the team. I wish he’d just accept the success we’re having and stop ranting to the press about how surprised he is we won. At a time when McLeish is looking for a new contract I expect better.
