Blackburn Rovers starlet David Hoilett has signed a new contract that will keep him at Ewood Park until the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

The highly-rated 19-year-old has been offered a new two-and-a-half-year deal and will challenge fellow forwards Nikola Kalinic, Jason Roberts and El-Hadji Diouf for a regular first-team spot.

The Canadian-born teenager has been sent out on loan to German clubs SC Paderborn and St Pauli in the past but has featured in 16 league games this term.

He started Sunday’s 3-0 home win against Bolton Wanderers and, although he hasn’t scored a Premier League goal, he did find the net in the 3-1 Carling Cup success at Gillingham earlier this season.
