Defender Anthony Gardner did not break his leg during Saturday's defeat at West Ham United, but Hull City are still waiting to discover the full extent of his injury.

Gardner was stretchered off towards the end of the 3-0 defeat at Upton Park amid fears of a broken leg.

Subsequent scans have since revealed no bone fracture but manager Phil Brown is yet to discover the full impact of the injury.

Gardner could still miss vital matches during the Tigers' battle against relegation with ankle ligament damage.

"The X-ray is clear so that is some kind of positive," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail."But we will not know the extent of the injury until the swelling has gone down and we can have a scan.

"There was a lot of inflammation and until that has cleared up, we will have to keep our fingers crossed."
