Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill singled out Ashley Young for special praise following Sunday's 5-2 victory over Burnley at Villa Park.

Burnley were given an early boost when Steve Fletcher opened the scoring but this was cancelled out before half-time by Young.

Two goals from Stewart Downing then transformed the game, before efforts from Emile Heskey and Gabby Agbonlahor set the seal on the victory.

Seventh-placed Villa are now just one point adrift of Tottenham in the fourth and final Champions League qualifying spot.

"Ashley was terrific for us today. He wanted to make things happen. I was delighted with his performance," said O'Neill.

"I have this argument every week with people who say that his form has dipped this season but I think he has done brilliantly.

"It's just been the case that other players have sometimes stolen the limelight, like James Milner.

"I've been delighted with both of them – and a few others besides."
