In-form Fulham striker Bobby Zamora looks set to miss Sunday’s Premier League clash against Sunderland after suffering an Achilles injury in the 1-1 draw at Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 29-year-old former Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham forward has been one of the Cottagers’ best players this term but could be set for a short lay-off after picking up the problem during Thursday’s Europa League last-32 first leg encounter in Ukraine.

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson confirmed after the match:“Bobby felt his Achilles in the second half. The pitch was very hard and that doesn’t help.

“We can only hope that it’s not too serious but I would have my doubts for this weekend’s game against Sunderland.”

The Cottagers led 2-1 after last week’s first leg at Craven Cottage when Zoltan Gera and Zamora netted.

But after last season’s UEFA Cup winners had dominated the early stages, Brede Hangeland flicked a header home to hand Fulham a 3-1 aggregate lead.

Although Jadson scored midway through the second period, Fulham hung on, despite Danny Murphy’s late red card, to seal a last-16 clash with Juventus.
