I don’t know where the idea that Materazzi was a flop came from. He was class but unfortunately had a nasty streak in him. No flop though.

I agree with the first comment re materazzi. He was a quality player along with Dacourt in that season. He had a nasty streak which got him in to trouble but flop is the wrong word. We only sold him as we were skint and I’m pretty sure we made a decent return on him.

Have to include the 1st Italian to come over to the Prem – Andrea Silenzi, was an absolutely farcical waste of space at Forest.

Materazzi was not a flop at Everton oozed class but did get sent off to often. Does not make him a flop just a young italian defender adapting to a new league. I for one wish we had kept him.
