"Drawing with Manchester United at home and getting very close to a famous victory at Liverpool, only for the match to finish as a draw, would have been unlikely in Birmingham’s previous Premiership spells"

In our relegation season of 2005-06 we drew both league games with Liverpool and drew at home with Man Utd.

In our relegation season of 2007-08 we again drew both of our league games with Liverpool, plus Arsenal.

Your article is poorly researched as the difference this season is that we are picking up wins against the teams at the bottom of the table which is something that we have generally failed to do in our previous relegation seasons and that is where we have amassed so many points. Our Premiership sides have always been capable of nicking draws [against all of the "top four"] and wins [against Liverpool mainly and one when playing Arsenal] against the top sides.

I agree with Bari2, McLeish has silenced his doubters.Everyone in the media criticised the 4-5-1 formation earlier in the season [I'm looking at you Collymore], not realising that we had 11 players out injured at the time and we were extremely limited in terms of striking options. As soon as players became available, we switched to 4-4-2 and the media immediately jumped on this as some soft of admission of failure of the earlier system.

Still, I suppose it generates headlines, hey.

Not exactly the most informed of articles. Birmingham have drawn with Man U before in the premier and Rafa Benitez hasn't managed Liverpool to a league win again Birmingham in seven attempts, so not quite as surprising as this article makes out. As for McLeish finally silencing his doubters, well he did that many months ago!

He has done better than I or most Blues fans could imagine, he deserves every bit of credit being given to him.

By the way some of our football this season has been eye catching and very very good.
