Chief executive David Gill has leapt to the defence of the Glazer family after claiming they are running Manchester United 'the right way'.
The American family bought United in 2005 in a deal which saddled the Premier League club with debts in excess of £700million and their controversial ownership is back in the media spotlight.
Following a visible groundswell of support for anti-Glazer groups on the terraces at Old Trafford, a group of wealthy fans dubbed the 'Red Knights' are reportedly set to launch a takeover bid.
The influential group includes deal maker Keith Harris and Jim O'Neill, the chief economist at Goldman Sachs.
However, Gill claims a takeover deal is unlikely to happen as the Glazers do not want to sell the Premier League champions.
"The Glazers do not want to sell and from our perspective are running the club in the right way," he said.
"The owners are very long-term owners… they are not sellers.
"Our financial results show that we can live with our (financial) structure and enjoy the benefits."
