Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has ended his 18-month injury nightmare after finally making his comeback.
The England international last pulled on a United shirt in a Premier League game against Chelsea in September 2008.
Chronic tendinitis problems led to surgery on both knees but the 29-year-old finally make his comeback after playing 45 minutes against Burnley's second string on Thursday night.
Hargreaves had made an aborted comeback in 2008 before seeking advice from world renowned knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado.
Speaking about his injury problems before going to America, he told the Daily Telegraph:"Instead of muscles taking the shock absorption, my tendon was. It wasn't dealt with the way it should have been initially.
"I saw so-called specialists who said 'this is what you need and you will have absolutely no reaction' and I had a massive reaction.
"You like to think you will get the best advice possible but that is not always possible."
Hargreaves arrived at Old Trafford in a £17million deal from Bayern Munich in summer 2007 but he has made just 25 league appearances for the Red Devils.
