Tony Pulis has urged his Stoke City side to reach the 40-point mark which usually guarantees safety at the earlier possible opportunity.

The Potters travel to struggling Burnley on Wednesday night in 11th place in the Premier League table and just six points away from reaching the milestone.

Pulis has now called on his players to focus on the league following their FA Cup exit at the hands of Chelsea on Sunday.

"We know it's going to be a very tough match for us and therefore we have to show the right attitude," Pulis told the club's official website.

"The glamour and gloss of the FA Cup has gone now so it's back to the bread and butter of the Premier League.

"It's very important that we get the points on the board now to secure our place in this league for another season – and we get them as quickly as possible.

"People are saying that we are safe but I won't be happy until we have got to that 40-point mark."
