Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has denied recent reports suggesting he will be moving to Chelsea at the end of this season.

The 25-year-old was one of the names mentioned as a possible target for the Blues this summer as owner Roman Abramovich plans a major overhaul of an ageing squad.

Abramovich's dreams of winning the Champions League were ended on Tuesday at the last-16 stage by an Internazionale side that are managed by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Germany international Schweinsteiger, who has spent his entire career with Bayern Munich, was quoted in German daily Bild as saying,"What is written in English papers is not always right.

"Today, many things are possible. What is very interesting in England is the atmosphere in the stadiums. But I have a lengthy contract with Bayern and therefore I assume that I will continue to play here."
