Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou believes Kevin-Prince Boateng's challenge on Michael Ballack in the FA Cup final has ended his chances of a move to Germany.

The midfielder, who is currently on World Cup duty with Ghana in South Africa, was being eyed up by two unnamed Bundesliga sides, but the interest appears to have cooled on the power of his infamous challenge.

Boateng pole-axed the 33-year-old Germany captain in the first half of the showpiece event at Wembley in May and, as a result of his tackle, Ballack will miss the World Cup finals this summer.

Speaking to reporters, Andronikou said:"Boateng was being hawked around Germany and it has since cooled after that particular tackle.

"We had a meeting with two German clubs before the Cup final. Well, they are not ringing any more.

"I certainly believe that is down to Boateng's tackle.

"Football is governed by emotion and opinion and that can change overnight. It seems to have happened with this player.

"I remember quite vividly when he first came to me talking about supposed interest in moving back to Germany a few months ago.

"That has certainly changed from his point of view – and it would appear from German clubs."
