AC Milan have snapped up the Brazil international Robinho from Manchester City for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of Euros 15million.

The deal goes through exactly two years after the player moved to Eastlands for a British record sum of £32.5million from Real Madrid but he struggled to impress in England.

A statement by the Rossoneri read: "AC Milan communicates it has acquired the player Robinho, outright from Manchester City. The Brazilian has signed a contract with the Rossoneri club for four years."

City allowed the 26-year-old Brazilian to return home to join Santos during the second half of the last campaign after struggling with injury and a loss of form.

His record for City read 16 goals in 48 starts and five substitute appearances after he had found the net 30 times in 122 games for Real Madrid.

It had been thought that Robinho would be heading to Milan on a season-long loan arrangement.

"I'm really happy to be here," he said after touching down in Milan ahead of a Tuesday afternoon medical."I hope to have success at Milan.

"Milan are an important side and I hope I will be able to show my worth on the pitch."
