Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa on a season-long loan.

The Croatia international has joined the north London club from Spartak Moscow after the two clubs agreed a deal at the beginning of August.

Pletikosa, who has won 80 international caps and has featured in two World Cup finals, will provide back-up to Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini at White Hart Lane.

Veteran Cudicini made a rare start in Saturday's 1-0 Premier League defeat at home to Wigan Athletic as regular number one Gomes is currently sidelined with a groin injury.

Pletikosa will be the fourth Croatian – after Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjca – in the Spurs squad following a deal which manager Harry Redknapp claims could be his only one on transfer deadline day.
