Steven Taylor‘s agent has hit out at inaccurate information he claims Newcastle United disclosed before placing the defender on the transfer list.
The Magpies made the centre-half available for transfer on Wednesday after talks over a new contract hit the buffers.
The 24-year-old’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and the Premier League returnees are not willing to allow Taylor to walk away on a free transfer.
The centre-back, who is currently out of action due to a shoulder injury, has made more than 170 appearances for United to date.
Taylor’s agent, Paul Stretford, has released a statement criticising the club in which he also claims that his client has no wish to leave St James’ Park.
“Figures released to media today by Newcastle United do not accurately reflect the position of Steven and his agent,” read the statement from Triple S.
“However, both are happy to continue negotiations over a new and extended contract at Newcastle United.
“Steven’s disappointed to learn he was placed on the transfer list through a third party.
“He has always given 100 per cent at Newcastle United and will continue to do so given the opportunity.”

Hope we can put a new contract for him at the table in the next three days! We need realy need him at the club, and we will not find someone who will replace him! He is young, has a lot of experince and always gives 100 percent for the club! Hope he can stay at the club out for his career and help us up there we was for few years ago, fighting for the title!

Yes. He’s the best actor we have, too! Surely this is the club just trying to maintain a wages policy?
Steven is good but not under pressure when he tends to loose it.

Well i’m critical of agents. The club blatantly offered him a contract and said “final offer” and Taylor’s agent told him to hold out for more
