Stoke City have told Chelsea to forget about signing Bosnia international goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Last season's Premier League champions will be without injured first-choice shot-stopper Petr Cech for the opening weeks of the campaign and Carlo Ancelotti is unsure about the capabilities of back-up keepers Hilario and Ross Turnbull.

However, Potters boss Tony Pulis, who signed the 23-year-old from Portsmouth for £3.25million in January, told The Sentinel:"They have enquired but they've been told he isn't for sale.

"We're trying to bring players in, not let our better players go."

Meanwhile, Pulis has confirmed that he still hopes to bring Ipswich Town's in-demand captain Jon Walters to the Britannia Stadium.

Director of football John Rudge watched Walters during Ipswich's 3-1 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

However, Pulis is unsure whether Nice striker Loic Remy will sign for his club, adding: "He's a very talented young player, but whether we do the deal is another thing. It's not just Stoke that are interested, but three or four others."
