Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has played down his club's chances of signing highly-rated Nice striker Loic Remy.

The 23-year-old France international visited the Potteries last week to take a look at the facilities at the Britannia Stadium, but Pulis says a deal is still unlikely, with a host of clubs on Remy's trail.

"We went over to France to watch him play," Pulis commented.

"He's a very, very good player, a very talented young player who's just got selected for the France squad as well, but whether we do the deal is another thing.

"It's not just Stoke that are interested in him, I think there are three or four other clubs that are interested in him and the deal will obviously be one of the major factors.

"They know they've got a top player on their hands and they're not going to let him go cheap.

"I actually went out with Dave Kemp and spoke to the kid. His English was fantastic and he's a lovely kid.

"We spoke to him and he wanted to come over and look at the football club, which he's done, but that's as far as it's gone.

"There's a lot more stuff to take place before we sign him and I know there are other clubs interested as well."
