Last minute deals at the Emirates?

To say the transfer window (so far) has been uneventful is tantamount to saying the Arctic is a bit nippy, as the majority of Premier League clubs are seemingly being careful with their finances. In some cases clubs simply have to sell before they can buy, much to the frustrations, no doubt, of many managers and supporters.

The lack of spending at the top of the Premier League has surprised many, especially given the open nature of last season’s title race. You would have thought the likes of United and Chelsea would have looked at a big outlay this summer, to ensure the also-rans remain at an arm’s length in their pursuits of the title. Only City have made substantial moves this summer, although you do feel that they may well struggle to strike a balance. This means this season’s race for the title, Champions League and Europa League places are very much as they were last year, unless we witness a major change in the transfer wind in the coming fortnight.

The media is predicting that a transfer storm is set to erupt, but it begs the question as to whether Arsenal really need to partake in some last minute shopping.

Does Wenger need to bring any players in before the transfer window shuts in 4 days time and if so who would you like to see him bring in to the Emirates?

Yes arsene defo needs to bring in some players.1 gk , 1 center back and 1 powerhouse midfielder. we looked terrible yesterday. nasri was a shambles. he doesnt no when to pass the ball and no arsenal player nos when to take a shot when they are outside the box. they have a mental block against the big teams. the gunners never have problems shootin from long range when playing the weaker teams but dont do it against the big boys!!!!!!!! i dont no why arsene took of jack yesterday. he was our most combatitive midfielder and passed the ball direct and fast. eberyone giving out bout him but yet arsene played him as a holding player. the lad is a creative box to box player. take of nasri and play jack in that position. and play carlos vela instead of arshavin because the lad seems to be tired and vela looked very good in pre season. this weekend i would love to see this team play blackpool.

Derek, were you watching a different match? Nasri was one of our better players. Look at Diaby and Wilshire for a poorest performances, I’ve seen our full backs have better games as well. Not judgung them long-term but that’s how it went yesterday, they didn’t hold onto the ball or create much penetration.
Agree that we need the 3 signings you’re talking about though. Want them all to be 25+ years old, at least 6’2″ and strong.

I think Derek is on the crack again….. just for your info, last season no other team scored more goals from outside the box than, yes, you guess, Arsenal.

Nasri was probably our best player, Arshavin was his usual terrible. Playing one striker up front is not going to work. The defense has no confidence in Almunia so we need a keeper bad IMO

Arsenal may have scored more goals outside the boxBut who were the champs.I am afraid Arsenal may have more possession than most teams but against Pool they were unabale to win.
Yeah I know they were missing a number of top players. The thing is most teams know how the gunners play. The problem is compounded by the gunners overplay/overpassing/etc.Compared to other teams, the gunners take ages to get near the box and shoot.Further dithering gives defenders time to regroup and defend in numbers.
I know this is the first game. I would like the gunners to turn it on against the big teams. Failure to do so will indicate the gunners aint good enough and for that Wenger shd be held criminally responsible.

Since the 2001 season I believe the rfc had tried at least at least six to eight gks before settling on VDS.In contrast Wenger ,has to be fair, only used Lehman and Almunia. There you have it.The red faced @#~ is not a person to be trifled with.
Wenger should show be more ruthless in the gk position.I believe if Arsenal fail to challenge it would be due to Wenger’s stubborness. He wants to prove the doubters, many of them seasoned analysts, wrong only to shoot himself in the foot.
Btw he said he had offers from other clubs. The Arsenal board shd let him go if this is another season of barren trophies. He would experience intolerance of poor results and under achievement of the highest order. I firmly believe if there is a run of poor results he could be fired in the first few months of the season at a new club.
The thing is no one is indispensable if you don’t have continual success. The rfc could be sacked this season if MU fail to win any trophy. Yes we know he had won many trophies in the past. The employers want to see future success and not potential glory years.

yes arsenal need at least 3 new players in my opinion, 2 central defenders and a world class keeper, i would bring in an experienced defensive midfielder also to help frimpong and song. my choice would be steklenberg ( ajax & holland keeper ), per mertesacker (werder bremen defender), serdar tasci (stuttgard defender) and felipe melo ( juventus defensive midfielder).

i think we desperately need a goalkeeper and a centre a half…since wenger is not keen on dealing with city and schwazer being cheaper..i think is a realistic option and good enough too!
about centre halves…wenger knows better he always signs good centre halves ;)

It’s funny that the idiot posted first slating Nasri. What a joker.

Everyone know we need a GK and a CB. I think we’re ok in midfield personally. Shay Given will do the GK job just nicely thanks.
