The transfer dealings at Old Trafford
The transfer window always reminds me of Christmas. Full of expectation, excitement and then suddenly it becomes something an anti-climax once it is over. Some are happy with their presents, while others are left seething at the lack of effort that was put in. City fans are undoubtedly happy with their lot this summer, although others are bound to be disappointed.
It has been a relatively quiet transfer window as clubs remain cautious with their transfer spending, given the current climate. Chairman may have had little option but to be prudent, but it doesn’t stop supporters feeling slightly disappointed that a few more gambles haven’t taken place. Surprisingly a lot of managers have actually been sympathetic towards the situation, highlighting the curse of high wages that has made transfer dealings all the more difficult, rather than bemoaning the lack of backing from their club chairman. While others have simply made the best out of the stagnant transfer market, negotiated well and brought in some real bargains.
So how has Manchester United’s transfer window been and have you been disappointed by the progress that has been made? Was there any real need for Fergie to strengthen in the first place and is Sir Alex right to put his faith in the current squad at Old Trafford?

WTF r u fools on about! We have an amazing squad full bright young players from across the globe, not to mention the fact that a lot of them will count as homegrown as they r so young. We will be challenging for the top honours for as long as I live and further and I’m only 16! I have full faith in Fergie! I’m a little up set we haven’t made 1 senior signing but if Fergie believes we have the ability to win it with our youths then that means we will probably win the premier league and maybe even the champions league!

come on lads, we are still playing some great football, you may get used to quiet transfer windows, not just for United but all clubs, with the break even rules coming in. Youth is the best way forward, its guaranteed with our own youth that when they develop into top players, they wont be want away madonnas like ronaldo et al because they understand how big united is, they are born and bred United, these are they players who will give their all for United every second they are on the pitch. plus wages are often not such an issue as bought in players, these players just want to play for our club, they usually dont hae ridiculous demands, this will be very important in the future, and probably our best chance of getting out of the debt we are in. Nobody here knows united better than King Fergie, just trust the man, we are still more than capable to win top honours, nobody can deny that. There was reasons for fergie not to spunk a load of cash this summer, as was said before, BELIEVE

We needed a major signing in midfied and watched them snapped up and on top allows the exciting cleverley to be loaned thought that was one reason no signing was made.
We are in danger of losing our grip and
becoming a tropyless winning side under these debt ridden owners

Signing star midfielders hasn’t always worked out particularly well for us in the past – Veron was terrible, Hargreaves injured all the time, Carrick had one great season but has been out of form more recently.
Nani was our best player for the latter part of last season after a lot of people had written him off, people (including Roy Keane) wrote off Darren Fletcher who has become an important player for us too.
Having faith in the players we already have shouldn’t be a problem.
I think loaning out cleverly is a good move as he wouldn’t get enough first team football at united to develop his talent.
It would have been nice to get Ozil, but we have some very good midfielders already.
I’m not sure if United’s lack of activity in the tranfer market is as related to the Glazer debt as people are implying. I think if the right players were available for the right price, and were willing to sign and wanting to play for us (not using us as a stepping stone to Real Madrid or whatever) we would have bought them.
Chicharito will prove to be a good signing too!
