England coach Fabio Capello has revealed that he will not continue in his role after Euro 2012 when he will be ready to enjoy his retirement.

The Italian had been criticised for England's disastrous performance at this summer's World Cup in South Africa but has restored some belief in the national team over the last week, presiding over victories against Bulgaria and Switzerland.

The 64-year-old, who earns £6million-a-year, has enjoyed great success in club football with the likes of AC Milan and Real Madrid, but has not always found it easy managing England.

The FA have already said they will appoint an Englishman to succeed Capello, who said when asked about whether he would be leaving the role after Euro 2012:"Absolutely. Yes.

"We have to qualify first of course but after that I will be too old. I want to enjoy my life as a pensioner."
