Everton have allowed defender Joseph Yobo to join Fenerbahce on a season-long loan.

The Nigeria international captain was one of the longest serving players at Goodison Park but had seen starting opportunities become limited in recent seasons.

The 29-year-old joined the Toffees in 2002 but found himself behind Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin in the pecking order last season and made just 17 league appearances.

Yobo could join the Turkish club on a permanent transfer should he impresses during his season-long spell in Istanbul.

"The deal, which includes the option to make the transfer permanent when the loan ends next summer, was completed on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the closure of the Turkish transfer window," read a club statement.

"A deal had been agreed between the two clubs earlier this week and the Nigerian international has now passed a medical and agreed personal terms."
