FIVE things we have learnt from Tottenham today

Tottenham fans will be leaving White Hart Lane today with mixed emotions after securing a draw in an enthralling Premiership match against Chelsea. In a match that no-one wanted to come to an end, Spurs were rewarded with a single point for their efforts, but it could have been so much different.

Michael Dawson returned to the heart of the Tottenham defence and contributed to a solid first half for Spurs, with Roman Pavlyuchenko firing Tottenham into a 1-0 lead. However, Chelsea came back into the match and the introduction of Didier Drogba changed things. Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes was at fault for Drogba’s equaliser and then things went from bad to worse for the ‘keeper as he brought down Ramires and gave Chelsea a chance to win all three points in the dying minutes. Gomes, though, went from villain to hero and saved Drogba’s penalty as a pulsating encounter at White Hart Lane ended all square.

So what are the five things we learnt from Tottenham today?

    1. Modric is as good as any midfielder in league at pulling strings.
    2. Bale needs to better when his pure pace is not enough.
    3. Benny A&E may still be inconsistent, but he is at his best against big sides.
    4. Palacios is perhaps slowly regaining form.
    5. Gomes is still fickle, alternately horrible and brilliant.

Lucky to get a point. When we were on top after we scored we just didnt out enough pressure on to get the 2nd goal and our final pass all game was terrible.

    1. Pav is a disaster
    2. Crouch is a disaster
    3. Too dependent on Bale
    4. We need Disara quickly
    5. We give the ball back to the opposition so easily

    1. Keane needs to go
    2. Bale is starting to dive and needs to be a man
    3. Bale and Modric are irreplaceable
    4. Super Pav needs to stay
    5. Spurs miss VDV when he’s not on the pitch

1)This was the sort of game we used to lose, but those tables have turned, and nowadays we hang on for at least a point..
2)Rafa an Thudd are missed out there..
    3) Chelsea played their best game in recent weeks..
    4) Gomes is the villain and the hero..
    5) Pav’s goal was well taken, still, we could habe won it if we had a top striker..

So true.. I also feel even tho we have 2 of the best wingers in the prem we need to balance it out by having 3 in midfield.
VDV and Hudd will complete our attack.VDV and Defoe could be devasting together playing it on the floor

Gio should have been on instead of keane
When crouch plays, it takes the ‘hot’ out of hotspurs because it’s just long balls and headers which I wouldn’t actually mind if they actually worked !

1.We would put games away if we could just learn to weight just a few of those defence splitting passes.
2.Harry better have a steel heart cause Gomes constantly raises one’s blood pressure and puts us old fella’s in danger of a heart attack.
3.Palacios played better today but I still want to see Sandro get some decent game time to get into form, think there could be some potential there.
4.Hutton needs to assert himself more on attack, not be afraid to go for that shot when he can,no need to always try to give Defoe that final pass,9 times out of 10 he won’t give it to you.
5.We still can’t hold onto the ball consistently for any length of time but are much better at winning it back than before, just hoping Harry has bought everyone a Dvd of the Barcelona vs Real Madrid game for xmas with orders to watch it and learn not only the advantages of holding onto the dam thing but also the danger of letting a team like Barcelona have the bliming thing.

    1) We still play far to open
    2) We have taken the lead in the last two games and cant keep a lead when we have (on the plus/opposite side we do well when we go behind)
    3) Bale needs to work harder at his game and come up with another dimension when he gets players doubling up on him
    4) VdV, Hudd and King would would push us right up there
5)Pav is scoring but his general hold up and link up play is woeful

    1. The Champions League campaign is definitely taking it’s toll, together with all the injuries. The team was very tired the last 30 minutes. Notable as Spurs usually finish the games strongly.

    2. For this reason one point must be considered a very good outcome. Now Spurs have one whole month with “only” five games against teams outside the top-7, no European games and one FA Cup match against a lowly side. With the quality in the squad Spurs have a very good chance of still being in touch with the top of the table when ManU visit on January 16th.

    3. The players truly trust Harry R, follow the tactics and work very hard for the team. The way Lennon, Pav, Defoe etc worked to get back behind the ball was truly impressive.

    4. Really doesn’t matter how he played, what a lovely sight for sore eyes it was to see Dawson back. Welcome back mate!

    5. Nothing tells you more about Spurs amazing progress during the last two years than the fact that Chelsea lost two points and missed a late penalty but still left the “three point Lane” feeling very pleased.
