THREE deals to provide West Ham fans some Christmas cheer

West Ham Manager Avram GrantWith his job seemingly on the line as West Ham languish at the foot of the table, 3 points adrift of Wolves and 4 points adrift of safety, Avram Grant will be one man hoping for a Christmas miracle as the Hammers go into the seasonal fixture list. After West Ham issued an ultimatum to the Israeli, he will just be hoping for a win out of the Irons’ next 3 games, against Blackburn, Fulham and Everton, but if he can survive that, he will need to plan his sides survival bid, starting with some late Christmas presents over the January transfer window to bolster his squad.

Jamie O’Hara

The 24 year-old has been a peripheral figure at Spurs over the past few season, and has often been shipped out on loan, most notably last year to Grant’s former club, Portsmouth. Grant has made no secret of his admiration for O’Hara, and having watched Spurs’ season from the sidelines because of injury, the midfielder is a frustrated figure at White Hart Lane. If O’Hara can prove his long-term fitness, Grant could do with a player of his calibre to bolster his sides’ rather injury-prone central midfield, where both Mark Noble and Thomas Hitzlsperger are out until the New Year.

Joey Barton

Another who has reportedly been on Avram Grant’s radar has been Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton. He is another player who could prove a timely addition to a rather forlorn looking central midfield, and with rumours circulating about the future of club captain and midfield stalwart Scott Parker, Grant, should he be in charge, would quickly need to assess his options in terms of a replacement, and if he can sort out his disciplinary problem, Barton may well be the man for the job.

Any Striker

Well… any striker that can score would be nice. With the skill, power and pace of Victor Obinna comes his sporadic finishing ability, and in Frederic Piquionne and Carlton Cole, West Ham have two players who are, on their day, excellent ball players, but for whom finding the net is something of a novelty. The rumour mill has been churning out links with John Carew and Roque Santa Cruz, but what Avram really needs is any striker who fancies hitting the onion bag for fun.

Please stop this Joey Barton talk before it becomes a realistic option.

The guy is a disgrace and as far as I am concerned he is not fit to wear the same colours of the likes of Bobby Moore and Trevor Brooking.

Please, stop this nonsense… what the bloody hell are you talking about? Deals to give West Ham fans cheer? Jamie O’Hara, a Spurs reject or that physcopath Barton that stubbed a cigar out on a teammates face? Lazy, sloppy ‘journalism’ with not an ounce of credibility to it.
