FIVE things we learnt about Birmingham today?
Honours even in a pulsating 1-1 draw at St Andrews this afternoon.
It was a game where defences were on top for the large part, although Birmingham will certainly feel they should have snatched a late winner through Nikola Zigic in the dying seconds of the game. Alex McLeish will have been pleased with a point that takes the Blues further away from the bottom three; however on this showing you do feel that Birmingham must look to strengthen further in the January window, especially in the attacking third.
So how do Birmingham fans feel about the performance today and what are the five things we learnt about the Blues today?

Football News 24/7

1. Zigic is hopeless
2. McLeish needs to buy a striker
3. Bentley isn’t fit
4. Our defence doesn’t look solid
5. We need to stop sitting back when we score.

i totaly agree zigic is useless, striker needed, defence looks weak, always fall asleep after we score ,but i disagree i felt bentley done well he played 90 mins put in a good shift way better than seb larsson he is fat and slow with no skill wat so ever bentley look lively and attacked some thing mr larsson scared of lets face it it was bentleys 1st game for a while he done more attacking in 1 game thar larsson done all season.

1. McLeish must have something against anyone called Kevin Phillips. What is it going to take to play him for more than 5 minutes. Actually what is it going to take to play him for even 5 minutes.
2. Bentley looks promising and physical – admittedly needing match fitness. Great debut!
3. Our defence is going to need to adjust *quickly* to the reshuffle post-Dann’s injury. Good showing by Murphy though.
4. McLeish seems surprisingly and worryingly out of his comfort zone when plotting attacking football. Beausejour, Phillips not used even with 15 mins left. Zigic – fine to bring on as last resort, but too little too late. Fahey should have been subbed earlier to keep our attack fresh.
5. We need to wrap up one of the Miller or Keane deals in the next week or we will be stuck at the end of the window scrambling and settling for second-rate choices for striker. Either way, we need to get Jerome fit again for whoever we end up with to serve as an effective foil…

Bonus additional 6th thing learnt…
6. Apparently we are looking to sign (and don’t get me wrong, i either would be a help) two players neither of whom will ever take the Midlands to their hearts in the way we’d like them to. We seem to be dragging them kicking and screaming south / north, respectively…
Worrying.

Agreed Nadeem. Problem is there is historically a campaign against Blues, and the media including MOTD, Gary Pube-ond(itv sport controller/vile supporter) and various newspapers (of all the Derbys today we got the least mention), so we have to play the transfer market very carefully.we are at the small steps stage yet, and can now beat/not lose to the vile.
I truly believe we have a solid core with foster, good defensive mix (haven’t played jiranek yet who is good), murphy back, addition of bentley (looks a very good addition), ferguson, bossyjaw (I like him, some mates don’t), and ferguson…I genuinely believe that our forwards are the only missing piece.
Would you blame any striker holding out for the best deal? They have no allegiance to us, but if they do come they will love it and play for us. Derbyshire, Jo hart, and now (very quickly) Bentley is talking about wanting to stay. We have a great changing room and team ethic.
My only problem is ecks reluctance to make changes, both in games and in the starting line ups. Glad to see he is starting to mix it up a bit.
Remember, mcleish bought Arteta and many more decent players to these isles, so he has a good eye for transfers. Trust him.

1- You have no fans. £22,000.00 is a disgrace. Shame we weren’t allowed to fill the rest of your ground
2- Your grounds a giant toilet
3- Your manager struggles with tactics. Today and at the West Ham game you played far to defensive after you scored.
4- You need a new striker
5- Foster and your def is starting to crack.
Good luck

1. I have lots of vile mates, and I am the first to admit to them if the vile were better than us. Not today.
2. Have you ever heard the saying involving people in glass houses?
3. If ever our ground resembled anything like a toilet, it was when Aston village neanderthals smashed up the toilet block for losing in the cup. And filmed it. And put it on YouTube.
4. With a much worse goal difference, you need to look closer to home when talking about cracking defence.
5. We know we need a new striker. That’s why we are looking at getting one. (Really! Is this a wind up, you sound like my mom?) You see, we have funds and are at least trying to use them. Where did your money from Barry and Milner go? Oh yeah, in learning Randy’s pocket. That’s why MON left 2 days before the start of the season leaving you in this fine mess. You sound like one of the grunts mentioned in my previous point, with your immaculately thought out intellectual points. Well done. Have a star. It’s all you’ll get this season.

Only 22,000 attended the game – the lowest attendance for the fixture in Premier League history – after the capacity was reduced as a result of the disturbances between the two sets of fans at a Carling Cup tie last month.
That is from the daily mail or telegraph I’m not sure showing why the attendance was what it was.
