Loan move to kick start Arsenal star’s faltering career?

I will be blunt. I’m not a big fan of Nicklas Bendtner. I think he’s over-rated, and as not many people rate him that highly that is saying something. A lot of this has to do with his attitude and how he feels he is entitled to now be in the Arsenal starting line-up despite never scoring consistently, or maintaining a patch of form for any amount of time, and only very rarely in his career thus far putting in decent performances. To be fair to him you do need a lot of self confidence to make it at the top in the football industry, but he seems to have crossed that line over to arrogance and is just an annoying little pr*ck really. So perhaps being shipped out on loan to West Ham will be just the thing to take him down a peg or two, whilst giving him sufficient game time to develop and see if there actually is a talented player somewhere there after all who can score goals with some degree of consistency.

I still doubt that Bendtner will ever be good enough to be the main striker at a club like Arsenal. And although still young, he just turned 23 this month; I’ve seen enough of him to conclude he will never be a world beater. He could still prove to be a useful squad player with the Gunners as he can offer a different dimension to Robin Van Persie. But the success of new signing Marouane Chamack has pushed Bendtner further down the pecking order. And with the Moroccan displaying all the attributes an in form Bendtner offers but with a greater degree of quality it is hard to see him forcing his way into the side, apart from the odd cup game such as last night’s victory over Leeds.

A move to West Ham offers Bendtner the chance to be consistently in the first team and even become the focal point of the team’s attack. A position he should relish and a chance to prove his critics, like myself, wrong. Although not convinced he would ideally want to go to West Ham, believing he is good enough for Arsenal, it is exactly the kind of club he should be looking at to reinvigorate his career that has stalled somewhat over the last couple of seasons. At a club like West Ham, Bendtner would be given greater opportunities and would be able to show if he has the ability to perform and score consistently at any level. And maybe earn himself a move to a team higher up the table than the Hammers, but in all likelihood not back to Arsenal as he just doesn’t have the talent.

But against Leeds Bendtner had a great game. He was industrious, tackled back, linked well, and laid on the cross for the third goal. A great performance by one playing out of position.
I think you are jumping on the “We hate Bendtner” bandwagon. Give the guy a break.

I do not think Bendtner had a great game.Nari had a great game, Sagna had a great game.Bendtner gave away the ball on numerous occassions and missed an easy chance, as well as messed up a great move in the box with his trademark miss-control.

Bendtner maybe arrogant, but at least he’s only been talking up himself, not talking down others, like a certain Man City striker been doing. And we can’t afford to loan him out. With van Persie, you never know when he’s going to break down again, we would have no cover left should Bendtner go out on loan.

There is nothing annoying about his self confidence, it is what will see him become a top player in time. The fact is he is a lovely guy, very popular, and not a big time Charlie. His attitude is far more innocent than the press like to make out.

He has all the attributes to push on, a few games on the wing where he hasn’t looked like Maradonna don’t erase his brilliant performances last season, and in the World cup. ALL while recovering from two awful major injury set backs.

Also, if you think his career has stalled, have a look at the stats before writing a lazy populist article that would befit a MOTD cliche artist. He’s 22 and not a regular, he has a great record for club and country.

I’m very glad to see that there have been a number of comments defending Bendtner against this absurd personal attack.

This ‘article’ makes no mention of Bendtner’s game – his strengths and weaknesses, etc. and what he might need to improve to become an Arsenal first team player. Oh, but it does mention he is an “arrogant pr*ck”, such fine analysis…

Why can’t these idiots just admit they don’t like Bendtner and want him out, instead of attempting to hide their obvious dislike behind non-existent football reasons?

You Gooners can keep ‘im! Carlton’s crap, but I’d rather have him than . . . . what’s his name . . . Bender?! Nah, sorry lads of l’arse, you’re welcome to the not so great Dane! No hard feelin’s but I’ve had to put up with impotent stikers for long enough; wtf do we want with another one! Hope you boys win the title tho! So leave Bend(tn)er on the bench. COYI

Yeah, he had a great run last season when all our strikers were injured and Arshavin was missing sitters.
He came back from injury this season and scored 2 good goals in 2 games. I think he deserves a regular run-in without Arshavin at his side.

Don’t discount him just because he thinks highly of himself.

Wrenny – I think I admitted from the off I don’t like Bendtner.
David he may have played well last night, but he is never consistent enough for me. I think Wenger is a decent judge of ability and if he was consistently playing well enough he would have forced himself into the team more regularly.
P-McG – he will never be a top player, & don’t think he was brilliant either last season or at the World Cup.
Gotta say I agree with Brad. Would any of you rather have him in the team than any of Van Persie, Chamack or Arshavin?

He’s a 22 year old front man with one run in the side where he did better than RvP and Arshavin. RvP is close to world class, he’s on another level, but Bendtner would score more than Chamahk with a prolonged run.

Who wants him to start over RvP or Chamahk at the moment though, he is a quality squad player atm, who needs games.

Bentner will never be world class. I am not disrespectful as I have never met him all my life but am just being truthful. You know a good player from his touch on the ball and movement. He is not good enough! It still beats me he is in Arsenal.

Buy Cahill, load Vella to Bolton and Keep Bentner for 3rd cover Striker and his utility playing on the midfield wings to rest Theo and Andrey… Or get Eden Hazard and Honda and rethink the lot of them!
