Who is responsible for the mess Chelsea find themselves in?

What on earth is going on at Chelsea at the moment? After last night’s 1-0 defeat to Wolves at Molineux, the Blues sit 5th in the Premier League table, outside of the Champions League qualification places. Chelsea have won just once in their last 9 Premiership fixtures, and that was a less than convincing victory over Bolton at Stamford Bridge. There seems to be no escape from the current dreadful run of form that Carlo Ancelotti’s men find themselves in, but ultimately who is responsible for the mess that Chelsea are in?

There are a few people that you can direct the blame towards here. The firing of Ray Wilkins still seems like a strange decision and Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich has to take the wrap on that one. Unsurprisingly Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is under extreme pressure right now, and less than positive post-match press conferences from the Italian in which he seems to have already given up on the Premier League title will not please the fans. Then there’s the players, with the likes of Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda simply not reaching the levels of performance they did last season. So who do you think is to blame for Chelsea’s current predicament and is there a way forward out of this mess?

In my opinion Ancoletti should be the one to blame, not because of the results but because of the way he is approaching the games. Sure Drogba, Anelka and Malouda are good players but when the form is not good Ancoletti is not brave enough to try the young and old combination. Some can argue about Kalou but Kalou is good against teams like Asto Villa who play a smooth game compared to wolves or blackburn. I am not saying Ancoletti should be removed but instead he should be encouraged more to use the youngsters and become creative. He should be given full control of the dressing room and a very big say in who goes and who stays. Only if this is done we can see Chelsea growing similar to Barcelona. We as Chelsea fans should stand behind Ancoletti in this case.

I Feel there is more than we are seeing. Chelsea is going through whatever its going through because Ray wilkins who was Anceloti’s strength was sacked, Anceloti feels there is no need to spend for transfer of players yet He sent away other performing players away without replacement e.g Joe Cole, Belletti, Deco, Carvalho, Ballack etc

I’m never in favour of sacking managers and there are problems like a lack of depth, but less depth than Newcastle, Birmingham, Wolves, Villa and Liverpool, really?…No!

Carlo hasn’t done anything to change things and the manner in which we have conceded goals suggests a lack of organisation and not enough is being done on the training field, which is a coaching issue.

Also, making the same changes in every game Ferreira/Bosingwa and switching two equally useless strikers in Kalou and Anelka around doesn’t work.

…meanwhile Sturridge wants out and Borini has been treated disgracefully and is being forced out.

By the way, not buying the ‘Wilkins factor’ argument either.

He didn’t have a lot to say on tactical issues and was more of a translator/popular face.

It would have initially have affected morale to lose him, but they’re grown men and should be over that by now.
