FIVE things we learnt about Newcastle United today
Newcastle United will be very disappointed not to leave Ewood Park with all three points after dominating their Premier League encounter with Blackburn Rovers.
In a match that ended goalless, Alan Pardew’s men dominated possession and created a number of decent chances. The most clear cut of those fell to Peter Lovenkrands, whose lifted his lob onto the crossbar. If ever there’s a match that illustrated Newcastle’s need for a striker this was it, but a special mention has to go to left back Jose Enrique who was simply magnificent and put in a number of excellent crosses.
So what are the five things we learnt from Newcastle today?

I’m shocked at the way we played today, so one dimensional, all we could do is cross the ball, get the ball out wide and cross, cross cross etc etc, we don’t have the strikers that specialize in heading, plus although he has been sacked w ewere playimng against a sam allardyce team, a team that is army drilled day in day out in dealing with crossess, long balls and set-plays.
I don’t put the blame on the our short comings on the strikers but our manager. Pardew said that the team needs to start changing in the way we play now that Carroll has gone but by going on todays performance we still play the same old 1980′s cross the ball cross the ball full time football it was embaressing. I don’t care if we had over 60 percent of the ball we were one dimensional, void of any imagination in any attackign sense, I mean what is wrong with trying to get the ball down and play, dink some more through balls into the box. Pass the bleeding thing around more instead just crossing the sodding thing every chance we got. F”king amatuar!

2 – We need a striker
3 – Carroll would have had a field day today
4 – Colo almost scored a wonder goal
5 – Barton defo had an off day

No Freddie i aint being harsh whatsoever. Saying we need a striker is too simple. The facts are , there are ways around our problems. Instead of crossing the ball to strikers that arent known for their heading, maybe we shock try somethign differen’t for atleast once during the game? Blackburn specializes in dealing with crosses and long balls yet thats what we gave them all day. I’m really puzzled at why Pardew would allow this, has he not been following the premiership shince he has been out of the game.
Why can’t we attack through the middle, let fowards come short like Best to hold up play and bring the midfield into play. We never tried that once. Sure I give credit to how Blackburn defended agaisnt cross but we really never attacked them through the middle not with any conviction. It showed a major lack of tactical nous from our point of view.
