TOP 10 Worst Football Tackles in Domestic League History
There have been some horrific, rash challenges in the past, however I have chosen ten which I think are the worst, but want to ultimately know what YOU think.
10. Newcastle vs Sunderland – Barton on Etuhu:
What’s a top ten worst tackles compilation without Joey Barton? A horrific challenge from the troublemaker as he had no intention of getting the ball whatsoever and set out to hurt the Nigerian.
9. Manchester City vs Reading – Stephen Hunt vs Fernandes:
A reckless challenge made by Wolves‘ Stephen Hunt – deserved red.
8. Manchester United vs Liverpool – Steven Gerrard on Michael Carrick:
Dangerous two footed tackle by the Liverpool skipper in a tie they really could have done with winning in what has been a poor season so far (skip to 00:58 for the tackle).

Nigel De Jong tackle was horrendous. the Other of his legs was high just under the knee and he didn´t even tried to play ball. Understand it.

Newcastle fan? De Jong’s tackle was on a par with Barton’s at the weekend. Hard but fair. As has been said ….. get over it.

Of these shown here it has to be Roy Keane. He should have been banned for live.
The one on Eduardo looks pretty bad, but you don’t get the feeling that the tackler really wants to injure Eduardo, very much unlike Keane.
The Shawcross one looks really, really bad and I’d like to see a slow motion close up to make up my mind, but from what I have seen it looks like a 50-50 with both players going in at quite a risk. Same goes for the Gerrard one.
Crouch, well, what can you say. Totally out of character (unlike Keane). Although I watch every Liverpool match I can’t remember this one. He must have been pissed and he is not that kind of player to go in like that (from what I know).

Besides that, the tackle wasn’t even that bad and Rafael did literally the same thing later on in the game, didn’t get a red though (cause its old trafford)

Keane’s tackle was the worst by a mile – what a role model eh??? …and premeditated apparently. Yes he should have been banned for life.

I can’t agree with the Shawcross one, it would’ve been a great tackle if Ramsey han’t gone and broken his leg. As for the Roy Keane one (which was retribution rather than a tackle)… it DID NOT END HAALAND’S CAREER! it was an injury to his other knee that forced him to retire. Where’s any of Danny Mills’ ‘masterpieces’ in this compilation might I ask?

Roy Keane wrote in his book that he had the tackle on Haaland planed. It is therefor an assult and should have been prosecuted as such.

Really disgusting. And that man is still allowed to work in this sport. What a role model, for thugs.
