In a clash at St Andrew’s involving two teams at the bottom of the Premier League table, West Bromwich Albion got an invaluable three points by beating Birmingham 3-1 in the West Midlands derby.

After an extremely dull first half, the match sprung into life after half-time. Youssouf Mulumbu put West Brom ahead just after the break, but Jean Beausejour replied for Birmingham almost immediately. The Baggies weren’t to be denied though, as James Morrison scored yet another stunner to give WBA the lead once more, before Paul Scharner made sure of all three with twenty minutes to go. The win moves West Brom out of the relegation zone for the time being and ahead of Birmingham, with the Carling Cup winners now having serious fears about the drop.

So what are the FIVE things we learnt from the West Midlands derby today?

During the rather dull first half your attention may well have wavered to the electronic pitch side boards, which will leave you in a great position to win a raceday experience by answering the poll below…

1 – the first half was utterly forgettable
2 – why wasn’t odemwingie on from the start?
3 – Morrison is becoming a wonder strike specialist
    4 – we’re better than Birmingham
5 – time to string a good run of results together
