The Premier League’s ‘SURPRISE’ XI of the season

Last week I compiled my Premier League ‘Let down XI’. That included players who were not necessarily the worst in the League, but who did not live up to the expectations that many fans and managers would have had. It included Almunia, Konchesky, Heitinga, Evans, Dunne, Carrick, Cole, Poulsen, Ireland, Defoe and Torres. In reverse of that, this week I have drawn up a ‘Surprise Package XI’.

This includes players who have exceeded what is expected of them this season. So a player like Carlos Tevez, although arguably the best player of the season, will not feature as he also scored regularly last season and was generally excellent. I have tried to mix it up a bit and include players both from the top clubs and those lower down the table as well as young and old players, just to keep things interesting.
