Pardew should kickstart summer spree at White Hart Lane

Tottenham Hotspur outcast Niko Kranjcar is almost certainly going to leave White Hart Lane this summer, after opportunities for the Croatian International have become almost nonexistent this season. The player himself has made his feelings clear on his desire to leave and it looks a nailed on certainty the former Portsmouth man will be heading for pastures new. He was quoted in the Sun yesterday morning as saying “Is there a point of beginning next season as a bit-part player? None whatsoever.” With this in mind, the player would be an excellent addition to the Newcastle United squad, and is an option I would hope Alan Pardew would consider.

Regardless of his evident ability, Kranjcar has failed to break into Harry Redknapp’s starting line up playing second fiddle to a number of quality players. Redknapp has preferred to play either Modric, Huddlestone, Jeans, Sandro or Van der Vaart ahead of him in the central midfield role. Kranjcar has only completed 90 minutes once in the league this season and only made two starts, incidentally during one of which he scored a stunning goal against Sunderland. Whether the Croatian would be interested in a move to Newcastle or not is unknown, but he would definitely bring a creativity to the Newcastle midfield that was missing in yesterday’s game with Liverpool.

The article in The Sun quotes Kranjcar as stating he would be interested in a move to Italy, “I would definitely be interested in moving to Italy. I think I would adapt quickly to Italian football.” If Newcastle were to show an interest in the player he may well be interested in prolonging his Premiership career, however this is all assumption.

Newcastle’s current midfield is blessed with talented players, Nolan, Barton and Tiote all of who bring significant qualities, but there does still appear to be a spark missing at times. Newcastle need a player who can unleash rasping shots from 25 yards, a player with quick feet who can spot a through ball and I see Kranjcar as that man. Usually when a player becomes unwanted, as it appears Kranjcar is at Tottenham, the opportunity to secure a bargain can arise and I can’t see Spurs wanting much more than £5-6 million for the player. Unfortunately I don’t make the transfer decisions at Newcastle and I’m sure Alan Pardew has his eye on a selection of players already. However, I feel the chance to buy a player of Kranjcar’s class would be a great acquisition for the Toon Army and not seizing upon Kranjcar’s availability would be a mistake in my book.

Newcastle made a last ditch attempt to buy back Charles N’Zogbia in the January window for a reported £10 million pounds. If they are willing to part with that sort of money for the Frenchman, buying Kranjcar for possibly half the price is a no brainer! If it transpires that Kranjcar heads to Italy, not only would the Premiership lose a talented player but someone with proven Premier League calibre will have been overlooked by Newcastle.

Start selling then please … mind you Harry will soon be in Jail .. so we might not need to … Harry is the reason we did not make CL this year, he has played 451 with players who are suited to 442 and then moans when the forwards cannot score. He does not give the better forwards a chance to gel before he changes it all again, loves Crouch and Defoe too much and despite being our best forward pulls Pave or does not play him. Keeps sticking with VDV who is OK at best but you cannot play a team around 1 player and despite almost never scoring from free kicks still lets him take every one and so we constantly have wasted chances … let him go to MU the guy was a two week wonder. Harry also failed to buy in Aug 10 and Jan 11 and because of that we fu*ked up and lost out … look at Liverpool, dead at the beginning of the season, bought the two forwards we should have and have not looked back … DUMP HARRY ASAP, DUMP VDV and if somebody offers 60+ million for Bale dump him as well … sorry but not our best player, build around Modric, Sandro and Hudd … all the best Peter4Spurs

peter u muppet, while i agree with some of your comments, to get rid of vdv n arry is stupid!!!! we do need a striker, its not dofoe or vdv whos the problem its crouch,he is a poor footballer, and can only play against europena opposiotn who have no idea what to do against him, he score against crap teams, he needs to go, we needa new goalie, and a right back!!! we dont need scott parker, or joe cole who i read we are after.

A new right-back ?? Don’t be a plonker, we have Kaboul, Walker, Corkula and Hutton who can all play there. Whilst I agree, corluka is good against slower/less-skilful opposition, we have Kaboul who is a very competent defender and a young Walker who looked very accomplishes on loan at Villa. I agree Hutton may get sold, but buy a new right-back when a centre-back is critical (no King, no Woodgate, Khumalo untested) is just idiocy !

One major problem we will have next season is attracting the right players to come to us.
Harry has been all over the media with his desire to manage England so it why will players come if they think he is off?
As for getting strkiers that cost £35m plus, Harry is off his rocker!!!!!!!!
We cannot afford to spend that on any player, pure and simple, we have to take a chance and find the next Berbatov, Bale, Sandro, they are out there, we just gotta find em.
I too would blame some of our results on Harry not sticking with a consistent strike force, we all know this is to fit in VDV, he sadly hasnt played well in all games and should have been dropped when his form dipped, the same way Pav Defoe and crouch were dropped.
for me we need to streamline our wage bill which means letting go of a few players, not a lot, but Ledly:( woodgate, hutton, O’Hara, Jenas, Pav(he wont sign a contract) Kranjar:((gutted)

Tawio to come in at left back
    Klose to replace Pav
marin for when Bale does go
    couple of midfielders
anyone to replace Gomez, think we all agree hes had enough chances

Tayo isn’t fit to clean Benoit’s boots…As for Marin, he’s nothing like Bale, more like a Modric replacement (should he leave, hope not).

I think there are some arsenal fans posting above desperate to see Spurs fail now we are closing in on them.

No Spurs fan would want us to sell our stars and sack Redknapp now when we have finally started getting the club into shape.

The key to the coming transfer window is not Pardew or someone else but ourselves. We need to do what it takes to make the deals early so players are with us in pre season.

If we need to drop the price of some of our dead wood then that is what we must do to clear them out and get some in. That way we give the team the best chance to hit the ground running for the opening game of next season which is only three months away.

Lots of work to do and so little time to do it so lets get cracking setting up deals now.

We need 2 strikers, 1 goalie, 1 left-back (cover for BAE), 1 centre-back and possibly 1 midfielder (Parker ?). No Daz, we do not need a new right-back (Kaboul, Walker, Corluka and Hutton !)

We need a new goalie thats for sure – I rather have some one who doesn’t make extraordinary saves but doesn’t flop occassionally. We need a new centreback who has to be fast on his feet. Dawson is good in the air but os too often overrun by fast opponents. I’m sorry to say but Ledley has to be moved on to the coaching team – let him be the defensive coordinator like in American soccer. I don’t think we need any other midfielders now Sandro looks like the real deal – if he can improve as bit he’ll be a great signing. Strikers – Yes please. Question is who has to go? Keane obviously but who else. Pav is better than Crouch but does he score more goals in the long run I don’t know. Crouch (how annoying he may be) have made more assists than Pav hasn’t he?
