‘Six of the Best’ Loan Deals Of The Premier League Season
The Premier League may be the richest league in the world but not every club in the division has the resources to splash cash out vast sums of money on one or two players. In recent times Premier League clubs have sent their players to the lower divisions but are times changing? Four out of the six players on this list were loaned from a Premier League club to a Premier League club, one from the Bundesliga and one from League 1. Loan signings are a superb way for clubs to nurture talent and improve their squad for relatively small sums of money. Here are 6 of the best loan signings this season.
Jason Puncheon
The Croydon born midfielder’s loan move to blackpool“>Blackpool was positive for everyone. Blackpool had signed a player who was able to beat people as well as having a good eye for goal. Puncheon played 11 times in the Premier League scoring three goals, including a very important goal last week against bolton“>Bolton. Puncheon brought a new dimension to Blackpool’s play and Ian Holloway had the player from the beginning of the season, who knows what could have happened. Puncheon is now reportedly a target for both Newcastle and Rangers.
Tom Cleverley
After Sir Alex Ferguson reluctantly allowed Tom Cleverley to have a season at wigan“>Wigan, Cleverley has taken the opportunity with both hands. He has been a star at Wigan, he has great feet, a superb passing range and a drive and determination that inspired his team mates to stay in the Premier League. Wigan have been highly impressed with the Manchester United youngster and Roberto Martinez will do his best to keep the player but Sir Alex Ferguson is keen for the youngster to return to Old Trafford.
When Kyle Walker joined Aston Villa in January most people raised an eye brow. After spells in the Championship, was Kyle Walker good enough to step up to the Premier League; in a team that was struggling? Walker has been superb for Aston Villa since his arrival in January, and has shown he can cut in in the Premier League. Walker is a superb defender but is also an expansive full back who loves to get forward. Walker was called up to the England squad in February and looks set to give real competition to Glen Johnson for the right back slot.
Jermaine Jones
The signing of the American international on a six month loan was something of a surprise for the Premier League. Why would Schalke allow an international to leave for six months, when they were struggling domestically? Whatever the reasons for the move, it has been blackburn“>Blackburn’s gain. Jones has been terrific for Blackburn. He has given Blackburn a solid base, he is a superb ball winner and is able to use the ball well. He has been a terrific signing for Blackburn and Steve Kean should be looking at signing the American on a permanent deal.
The signing of the January transfer window? What a superb acquisition Sturridge has been to Bolton. Daniel has shown that he is good enough for the Premier League scoring 8 goals in twelve appearances for Bolton. The striker has been superb, he has electric pace, superb skill as well as a keen eye for goal. If Bolton can secure a permanent deal they will have a future England star on their hands but Sturridge is said to be attracting attention for Tottenham.
Jamie O’Hara
The midfielder has been in super form for Wolves since his arrival in January and his performances were a key reason why Wolves have remained in the Premier League season. His passing and awareness this season have been highly impressive and he has been the focal point of Wolves’ attacking and creative play. In their 4-0 win against Blackpool in February, O’Hara touched the ball an astonishing 111 times – showing how important his team mates believe him to be. It seems that Jamie O’Hara’s Tottenham career is over but will be remain a Wolves player next season? Both manger and player seem to be singing of the same hymn sheet but if an offer comes from a bigger club could the midfielder turn it down?

Dude. Before you tell me where Puncheon was born, it might help if you mentioned which team he was on loan FROM? Yes, teams want to buy him, but from whom? Technically he is a Southampton player now. A transfer involves 2 clubs, you need to mention both. I shouldn’t have to go to wikipedia to fill in the gaps…
