Owen Hargreaves’s move to Manchester United in July 2007 proved to be one of the transfer sagas of the Summer. But, after four years and only 39 appearances, the England midfielder is leaving Old Trafford after United declined to extend his contract.

A player of undoubted talent and versatility, his career is seemingly on the rocks after contracting tendinitis in both knees. But, Hargreaves is not the only player in recent years to have unfortunately seen their promising career destoyed by injury, as many have fallen before him.
