Is this really the England XI of the future?
On the back of many a sumptuous display from Jack Wilshere last season it got me wondering, what will the makeup of the England side be in five years time look like with Wilshere at its hub?
It is often reported in the media that there is a dearth of young English talent, but I would argue that there are plenty of players ready to take the international game by storm, led by Mr Wilshere. Of course it is very hard to predict how footballers will progress in the future, and there are bound to be some players who come from nowhere to be part of the international setup. However, this is how I think the England starting XI will look in five years time…

swap rooney for conor wickham and adam johnson for ashley young
think you may have forgotton josh mceachran. the boy is mustard.
You don’t forget Josh McEachran if you have seen him play, which the author obviously hasn’t.
Hart, Kelly, Richards, Cahill, Gibbs, Adam Johnson, Rodwell, Willshere(C), Walcott, Caroll, Rooney
Richards is way Better than Smalling, and if Bartley is English he has a good chance too!
Marc Albrighton – awesome prospect in 5 years. Doubt he will still be at Villa by then.
Pretty much agree except for the wingers- ashley young and lennon are better than johnson and walcott but I can’t predict the future. I think smalling will flop as well tbh, so either richards or kelly could partner cahill and the other at rb
I agree with most of your team except for wayne rooney there are young strikers like benik afobe at arsenal who barcelona have alredy tried to sign and connor wickham, danny welbeck, daniel sturridge and probly more
